Remindster for Slack
What it does
Remindster posts your reminders into a Slack channel you choose. When a reminder is due, a message arrives in that channel with the title, when it was due, and a link back to the reminder itself.
Adding it
- Open a workspace in Remindster and go to Settings, then Notification channels.
- Choose Slack and press Add to Slack.
- Slack asks which channel to post to. Pick one and confirm.
- Remindster posts a short confirmation to that channel straight away. If you see it, the connection works.
What it can and cannot see
Remindster asks for one permission: incoming-webhook. That allows it to post to the single channel you select during installation, and nothing else.
It cannot read messages, list your channels, see who is in them, or read anyone’s profile. Slack does not grant those abilities with this permission, so they are not available to us even if we wanted them.
Choosing who gets what
A Slack channel is a recipient like any other. Add it to a reminder alongside people, and everyone is notified at the same moment. Each person can still have their own email or browser notification; the Slack channel does not replace those.
Removing it
Remove the app from Slack, or delete the channel from Notification channels in Remindster. Either works.
If you remove it from the Slack side, Slack tells us and we delete the stored webhook immediately. Nothing is left pointing at your workspace, and the channel stops appearing as a choice on reminders.
What we store
The webhook URL Slack issues, the channel name it is for, and your Slack workspace id so that an uninstall can be matched to the right connection. No messages, no member lists, no profiles. See the privacy policy for how long we keep things and how to have them deleted.
If something goes wrong
Delivery history on each reminder shows what was attempted and what happened, including failures.
If messages stop arriving, the usual cause is the channel being archived or the app being removed from Slack. Reconnecting from Notification channels fixes both. Anything else, write to us at our contact page.
